VALIDATION — 7-day smoke test, < $50
Prove there is paid demand before writing the full playbook. Total hard cost: €0–20 (domain optional; everything else is free tiers + fees only on actual sales).
The test
Sell the thing before it fully exists — with an honest “ships in 14 days” pre-order, plus a free lead magnet to measure top-of-funnel.
Setup (Day 1, ~2h of Joshua’s time; assets already built overnight)
- Publish
index.htmlto a Cloudflare Pages URL (free) — e.g.pflegegrad.unicorn.landor a Pages subdomain. No new domain needed (€0). - Gumroad product: pre-order at €69 launch price, “delivers 14 days after purchase, full refund any time before delivery.” Gumroad free; fees only on sales.
- Free lead magnet on the same page: “5 Mistakes English-Speaking Parents Make at the MDK Assessment” — 1-page PDF, delivered via Gumroad €0 product (doubles as email capture).
- Calendly link for the €150 call, live immediately (the call needs no product build — his knowledge exists today).
Distribution (Days 2–6, story-first, zero ad spend)
- Day 0 (morning of Day 1): request to JOIN all Facebook groups on the README channel target list — approval lag is 1–3 days.
- Day 2: Personal win story in the Berlin groups from the README channel list (#1–4) + 1 special-needs parent group (#5). No link in post; “DM me / link in comments” per group rules.
- Day 3: Reddit — r/germany weekly question thread only (the sub removes self-promo; AMAs need prior mod approval). Fallback if even a story post is disallowed: comment-only participation per the README’s Reddit fallback (answer Pflegegrad/MDK/Widerspruch questions, link only on DM request).
- Day 4: 3 warm contacts at international schools / parent networks — forwardable email (copy in README).
- Day 5: Munich/Frankfurt/Hamburg expat groups (README channel list #6–7) + 1-2 diagnosis-specific English groups (FASD, autism).
- Day 6: Follow-ups, answer every comment/DM.
Optional accelerant if organic stalls: €20 boosted post to expat-parents-in-Germany audience. Keeps total < $50.
Success thresholds (Day 7 readout)
| Signal | Kill | Iterate | Green |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landing-page visits | < 100 | 100–300 | > 300 |
| Lead-magnet downloads / emails | < 15 | 15–40 | > 40 |
| Pre-orders (€69) | 0 | 1–2 | ≥ 3 |
| Call bookings (€150) | 0 | — | ≥ 1 |
| DMs asking case-specific questions | < 3 | 3–10 | > 10 |
- GREEN (≥3 pre-orders or ≥1 call + >40 emails): build the full playbook in week 2; the month-one plan in SPEC.md is live.
- ITERATE (1–2 pre-orders, decent traffic): demand exists but price or promise is off. Test €49, or pivot the lead offer to the call (urgency buyers first).
- KILL (0 pre-orders and <15 emails after 8+ group posts): refund anything, keep the lead magnet up as goodwill, archive. Cost of learning: ~€0 and ~6 hours.
Why this test is the cheapest true signal
- Pre-orders are money, not opinions. Facebook likes and “this is so needed!” comments don’t count in any threshold above.
- The call requires zero build — it can generate real revenue during the test itself.
- Everything decays gracefully: if killed, the only artifacts are a free PDF that helps people and a landing page that cost nothing.
Rechtsberatung guardrail during the test
Every asset carries the disclaimer (drafted in README). In DMs, Joshua shares his experience and points to the resources; he does not tell anyone what to file. If someone needs actual legal advice, refer to VdK / SoVD (membership ~€6-8/mo includes Widerspruch representation) — mentioning this in the playbook is also a trust-builder.
